Brockville General Hospital is presently recruiting for the following position: TEMPORARY FULL-TIME PSYCHOLOGIST – Out Patient Mental Health (up to 6 months with possible extension) POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting administratively to the Program Manager, the Psychologist is responsible for offering a full range of clinical psychology services to clients with acute, and/or severe and persistent mental illnesses in a facility and/or community setting. Working as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team, the Psychologist provides assessment, treatment, and consultation services, together with collaboration with community resources to help meet the mental health needs of the individual. The Psychologist works in accordance with BGH policies and the regulations of the College of Psychologists of Ontario. Education, Specific Training: •Ph.D. in Psychology from an accredited post-secondary institution. •Current Registration in good standing with the College of Psychologists of Ontario and be able to supervise student placements. •A Valid Class G Ontario driver’s license in good standing to participate in community programming, meetings and traveling to satellite offices. Knowledge, Skills and Experience: •Knowledge of applicable federal and provincial statutes relating to the practice of Psychology. •Knowledge of community resources, services and related regulations to make appropriate referrals into the community. •Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations that apply to the work, and knowledge of any potential or actual danger to health or safety in the workplace. •Highly developed analytical skills in determining the most appropriate diagnostic approach from a range of alternatives. •Demonstrated ability to work cohesively within a team of multi-disciplinary professionals as well as independently. •Above average communication skills and ability to express specialised technical terminology and complex ideas in clear terms. •Interpersonal skills to maintain strong working relationships with multidisciplinary staff and community agencies as well as clients and their families. •Excellent organizational and coordination skills. •Expertise in complex trauma and PTSD and training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy strongly preferred. •Ability to maintain the strictest level of confidentiality, discretion and sensitivity in accordance with the Personal Health Information Protection Act. •Knowledge and experience with organizing and maintaining a computerized database.
